Frequently Asked Questions
What services does ZYP Medical offer?

ZYP Medical is a direct-pay telehealth and in-office clinic offering medical weight loss (GLP-1 therapy — compounded semaglutide, tirzepatide, and tirzepatide ODT), men's health and testosterone replacement therapy (TRT), virtual urgent care, NAD+ therapy, peptide therapy, and therapeutic phlebotomy. We also handle prescription refills for established patients.

Weight Loss TRT Urgent Care NAD+ Peptides Phlebotomy
Do I need insurance to use ZYP Medical?

No. ZYP is a direct-pay, cash-pay practice — no insurance needed. Pricing is transparent and published up front, which is how we keep costs low and care personal. We accept credit/debit, HSA/FSA, and offer Affirm financing on starter weight-loss plans.

What states does ZYP serve?

Weight loss & urgent care (telehealth): Nebraska, Iowa, South Dakota, Minnesota, Kansas, Colorado, and Arizona.

Men's health / TRT: Nebraska, Iowa, and Arizona only — because testosterone is a controlled substance requiring DEA licensure in the patient's state.

In person: at our Gretna, Nebraska clinic near Omaha.

How much does a consultation cost?

Two options. The Deep Dive ($75, 60 minutes) is a full-hour visit for patients new to GLP-1s — built around education, a personalized dosing plan, and a strategy for on and off the medication (virtual or in person). The Power Consult ($39.99, 30 minutes) is an efficient virtual visit for patients already experienced with GLP-1 therapy.

Your consult fee pays for clinical time only and does not guarantee a prescription — medication is prescribed only when clinically appropriate.

What's the difference between the Deep Dive and Power Consult?

The Deep Dive is for people new to GLP-1 therapy (or returning after a break) — a full hour covering how the medication works, dosing, side-effect management, and keeping weight off after you stop. The Power Consult is a shorter 30-minute visit for experienced patients who just need a provider to confirm the right medication and dose and get started.

How much do the medications cost?

Weight loss: compounded semaglutide from $150/month, tirzepatide from $233/month, and needle-free tirzepatide ODT at $250/month. Medication is included in the monthly price; final pricing depends on your prescribed dose.

TRT: from $129/month for testosterone therapy, with an all-inclusive Elite plan at $189/month. Pricing is transparent with no hidden fees.

Do you offer financing?

Yes. We offer Affirm financing on starter weight-loss plans, so you can spread the cost over time. We also accept credit and debit cards and HSA/FSA payments.

How do virtual appointments work?

Virtual visits are secure telehealth video or phone consultations with Josh Peterson, FNP-C. After booking, you'll get instructions for your visit and complete an intake form that your provider reviews in advance — so the appointment focuses on you. We often have same-day or next-day availability.

Do you prescribe controlled substances (like TRT) over telehealth?

Testosterone is a Schedule III controlled substance, and ZYP holds DEA licensure to prescribe it only in Nebraska, Iowa, and Arizona. We follow all federal and state requirements for controlled-substance prescribing, including required evaluation. We do not prescribe controlled substances outside those states or outside a proper clinical evaluation.

Can I cancel anytime? Am I locked into a contract?

No contracts — you can cancel anytime and you're never locked in. The only thing that isn't refundable is a consult fee once that visit has been completed, since it covers the provider's clinical time.

Where are you located, and who is the provider?

Our clinic is at 11922 Standing Stone Dr, STE 200, Gretna, NE 68028 — just outside Omaha, convenient to Bellevue, Papillion, La Vista, and the rest of Sarpy County. Care is provided by Josh Peterson, FNP-C, a board-certified Family Nurse Practitioner who offers personalized, one-on-one care with direct text access.

Important Disclaimers
When to go to the Emergency Room
ZYP Medical is not equipped for emergencies. If you are experiencing any life-threatening symptoms, go to your nearest emergency room or call 911 immediately.

Seek emergency care immediately if you experience:

  • Chest pain or pressure, or suspected heart attack
  • Severe difficulty breathing or shortness of breath
  • Uncontrolled bleeding or severe burns
  • Sudden weakness, numbness, or stroke symptoms (facial drooping, arm weakness, speech difficulty)
  • Severe abdominal pain
  • Loss of consciousness or altered mental status
  • Severe allergic reaction (anaphylaxis)
  • Seizures (first-time or prolonged)
  • Thoughts of harming yourself or others

Scope of care: ZYP treats non-emergent, minor medical issues, medical weight loss, men's health, and general health consultations. We cannot treat acute emergencies or conditions requiring immediate, intensive intervention. When in doubt, always err on the side of caution and seek emergency care.

Chronic conditions — care limitations

ZYP specializes in non-emergent, minor medical issues, medical weight loss, men's health, and general consultations. Our services are not designed to manage chronic conditions requiring ongoing, intensive monitoring. Exception: we do provide long-term management for medical weight loss and TRT when clinically appropriate.

If you have conditions such as diabetes, uncontrolled hypertension, heart disease, kidney or liver disease, or autoimmune disorders, please establish care with a specialist or primary care physician for comprehensive ongoing management. ZYP is ideal for minor acute conditions like cold and flu symptoms, minor infections, non-severe allergic reactions, and minor skin conditions or injuries.

Questions about whether we can treat your condition? Contact us at (402) 407-2847 or info@zypmed.com before scheduling.

Weight-loss medication disclaimer

Compounded medications: Compounded semaglutide and tirzepatide are NOT FDA-approved and are prescribed off-label, when clinically appropriate, by a licensed provider through licensed compounding pharmacies. FDA-approved brand-name GLP-1 medications are recommended as first-line treatment when available and covered.

Individual results vary: Effectiveness depends on health conditions, metabolism, adherence, diet, exercise, genetics, and other factors. ZYP does not guarantee any specific weight-loss outcome, and some patients experience weight regain after stopping therapy.

Risks & side effects: Common effects include nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, constipation, abdominal pain, headache, and fatigue. More serious risks may include pancreatitis, gallbladder disease, kidney problems, low blood sugar, and thyroid tumors. GLP-1s are contraindicated in patients with a personal or family history of medullary thyroid carcinoma or MEN-2, and in pregnancy or breastfeeding.

Ongoing care: Regular follow-up and monitoring are required for safe, effective treatment, and medications work best alongside diet, activity, and behavioral changes. Not all patients qualify. Medication costs are typically not covered by insurance; pricing is transparent and discussed before treatment.

Men's health & testosterone therapy (TRT) disclaimer

Controlled substance: Testosterone is a Schedule III controlled substance. ZYP can prescribe TRT only in states where it holds DEA licensure — Nebraska, Iowa, and Arizona — and only following required evaluation through licensed pharmacies.

Off-label use: TRT may be prescribed off-label for age-related testosterone decline and is not FDA-approved for low-normal testosterone. FDA approval is limited to diagnosed hypogonadism from specific medical conditions. Treatment decisions are individualized based on symptoms, labs, history, and overall health.

Required evaluation: Before starting, patients undergo medical history review, evaluation, and lab testing (including total and free testosterone, CBC, comprehensive metabolic panel, lipids, and PSA for men over 40).

Risks & side effects may include cardiovascular events, polycythemia (elevated red blood cell count), worsening sleep apnea, infertility and testicular atrophy, gynecomastia, mood changes, acne, and prostate effects. TRT is contraindicated in men with prostate or breast cancer, uncontrolled heart failure, untreated severe sleep apnea, high red blood cell count, or who are trying to conceive.

Ongoing monitoring with regular labs is mandatory for safe therapy, and discontinuation may require supervision. Individual results vary, and ZYP does not guarantee specific outcomes. TRT is typically not covered by insurance; pricing starts at $129/month.
