COMPOUNDED GLP-1 WEIGHT LOSS MEDICATIONS DISCLAIMER

Individual Results May Vary: The effectiveness of weight loss medications varies from person to person. Results depend on various factors, including individual health conditions, metabolism, adherence to prescribed treatment plans, dietary habits, exercise, lifestyle changes, genetics, and other variables. Past results do not guarantee future outcomes.

Compounded Medications: Compounded semaglutide and tirzepatide are NOT FDA-approved for weight loss. These medications are compounded by licensed pharmacies under the supervision of licensed healthcare providers and prescribed off-label when clinically appropriate. FDA-approved brand-name GLP-1 medications (Wegovy, Ozempic, Mounjaro, Zepbound) are recommended as first-line treatment for obesity when available and covered by insurance.

Medical Appropriateness: At ZYP Medical, a licensed healthcare provider will evaluate whether weight loss medications are medically appropriate and necessary for your specific health needs during your consultation. Not all patients will qualify for GLP-1 therapy.

Risks and Considerations: Compounded medications may carry risks including variations in potency, purity, and safety compared to FDA-approved medications. Common side effects of GLP-1 medications include nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, constipation, abdominal pain, headache, fatigue, and injection site reactions. More serious risks may include pancreatitis, gallbladder disease, kidney problems, low blood sugar (especially in diabetics), thyroid tumors (including medullary thyroid carcinoma), and allergic reactions.

Contraindications: GLP-1 medications are not appropriate for patients with a personal or family history of medullary thyroid carcinoma, multiple endocrine neoplasia syndrome type 2, severe gastrointestinal disease, or who are pregnant or breastfeeding.

Patient Responsibility: By choosing to use weight loss medications, you acknowledge that you have been informed of the potential risks, benefits, and alternatives and have discussed these thoroughly with your healthcare provider. You agree to follow the treatment plan prescribed by your healthcare provider, attend regular follow-up appointments, and promptly report any side effects or concerns.

No Guarantee of Results: ZYP Medical does not guarantee specific weight loss outcomes with the use of these medications. Weight loss results may vary widely among individuals. Some patients may experience significant weight loss while others may see minimal results.

Ongoing Monitoring Required: Regular follow-up appointments and monitoring are essential to ensure the safe and effective use of weight loss medications. Your healthcare provider will monitor your progress, adjust dosages as needed, and evaluate for any adverse effects. Missing follow-up appointments may result in discontinuation of treatment.

Lifestyle Modifications: Weight loss medications are most effective when combined with dietary changes, increased physical activity, and behavioral modifications. Medications alone are not sufficient for sustainable weight loss.

Legal and Regulatory Compliance: ZYP Medical operates in full compliance with all applicable state and federal regulations regarding the prescribing and dispensing of medications. All prescriptions are written by licensed healthcare providers with appropriate prescriptive authority in the state where the patient resides.

Cost and Insurance: Weight loss medications prescribed by ZYP Medical are typically not covered by insurance. Patients are responsible for all costs associated with consultations, medications, and follow-up care. Pricing is transparent and discussed prior to initiating treatment.

Men's Health & Testosterone Therapy Disclaimer

TESTOSTERONE REPLACEMENT THERAPY (TRT) DISCLAIMER

Off-Label Use and FDA Approval: Testosterone replacement therapy may be prescribed "off-label" for andropause (age-related testosterone decline) and is NOT FDA-approved for treatment of subclinically low testosterone levels or for men with normal to low-normal testosterone ranges. The FDA has approved testosterone therapy only for men with diagnosed hypogonadism due to specific medical conditions affecting the testes, pituitary gland, or hypothalamus.

Clinical Necessity: Testosterone therapy is generally not deemed clinically necessary for men with normal to low-normal testosterone levels (typically 300-1000 ng/dL). Treatment decisions are made on an individual basis considering symptoms, lab values, medical history, and overall health status. Your provider will determine if testosterone therapy is medically appropriate for your specific situation.

Required Evaluation: Before initiating testosterone therapy, patients must undergo comprehensive evaluation including detailed medical history, physical examination, and laboratory testing (including total testosterone, free testosterone, complete blood count, comprehensive metabolic panel, lipid panel, and PSA for men over 40).

Potential Benefits: When clinically appropriate, testosterone replacement therapy may help improve symptoms such as low energy, decreased libido, erectile dysfunction, reduced muscle mass, increased body fat, mood changes, difficulty concentrating, and decreased bone density associated with clinically low testosterone levels.

Risks and Side Effects of Testosterone Therapy:

  • Cardiovascular Risks: Increased risk of heart attack, stroke, blood clots, and cardiovascular events, particularly in older men or those with pre-existing heart disease
  • Prostate Health: Potential worsening of benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH), increased PSA levels, and possible increased risk of prostate cancer (though evidence is controversial)
  • Blood Disorders: Elevated red blood cell count (polycythemia), increased hemoglobin and hematocrit which can increase blood clot risk
  • Sleep Apnea: Worsening of sleep apnea or development of new-onset sleep apnea
  • Infertility: Testosterone therapy suppresses sperm production and can cause temporary or permanent infertility
  • Testicular Atrophy: Shrinkage of testicles due to decreased natural testosterone production
  • Gynecomastia: Breast enlargement due to testosterone conversion to estrogen
  • Mood Changes: Increased aggression, mood swings, or irritability
  • Skin Reactions: Acne, oily skin, injection site reactions
  • Liver Problems: Elevated liver enzymes or liver damage (more common with oral testosterone)
  • Fluid Retention: Swelling in ankles and feet

Contraindications: Testosterone therapy is contraindicated in men with prostate cancer, breast cancer, uncontrolled heart failure, untreated severe sleep apnea, high red blood cell count, or who are trying to father children.

Ongoing Monitoring Required: Regular follow-up appointments and laboratory monitoring are mandatory for safe testosterone therapy. This includes monitoring testosterone levels, complete blood count, liver function, lipid panel, and PSA. Failure to attend follow-up appointments may result in discontinuation of therapy.

Not a Substitute for Lifestyle: Testosterone therapy is not a replacement for proper diet, exercise, sleep, and stress management. Lifestyle modifications should always be the foundation of men's health optimization.

Withdrawal and Dependency: Long-term testosterone use may suppress natural testosterone production. Discontinuing therapy may require medical supervision and may result in temporary low testosterone symptoms while natural production recovers.

Legal Considerations: Testosterone is a controlled substance (Schedule III). Prescriptions must be written by licensed healthcare providers and dispensed through licensed pharmacies. Sharing or selling testosterone is illegal and dangerous.

Patient Responsibility: By choosing testosterone replacement therapy, you acknowledge that you have been fully informed of the risks, benefits, and alternatives. You agree to follow the prescribed treatment plan, attend all follow-up appointments, report any side effects promptly, and have realistic expectations about treatment outcomes.

Individual Results Vary: Response to testosterone therapy varies significantly between individuals. Some men experience dramatic improvement in symptoms while others may notice minimal changes. ZYP Medical does not guarantee specific outcomes from testosterone therapy.

Insurance and Cost: Testosterone replacement therapy is typically not covered by insurance when prescribed for age-related decline or off-label uses. Patients are responsible for all costs. ZYP Medical offers transparent, affordable pricing for testosterone therapy starting at $119/month.
